Better watch the National Personal Injury Quality Mark!

Last updated: 16 July 2024

Personal Injury – In the United States, bizarre amounts of money are regularly demanded – and sometimes paid – to personal injury victims. For example, 30 years ago McDonalds had to pay $600,000 to a lady who suffered burns because she (herself) spilled hot coffee. The widow of a smoker received more than 23 billion dollars from her husband’s favorite cigarette trademark. And Subway was allowed to hand over $20,000 to a man who found a 6-inch knife in his meal. Fables? Mostly not. But perhaps that is the reason why more and more rogue parties smell money. And entering the market as a personal injury specialist without the right papers.

Also in the Netherlands, people who suffer physical or psychological damage from a traffic accident, medical error or industrial accident can contact a personal injury agency or a lawyer. These can help hold the other party liable, collect evidence and claim compensation. The only question is: how do you know that you are choosing the right party? From the outside – read: on the internet – you cannot easily see whether a personal injury agency is good or not.

Specialist or “specialist”

To prevent illegal practices and protect vulnerable people who have already suffered damage from malicious representatives, the industry of lawyers and injury specialists is calling for personal injury specialists to be made a protected profession. They think it’s crazy that anyone, even without any training or diploma, can start a personal injury agency.

No unnecessary misery

In anticipation of the decision that the Ministry of Justice and Security will probably take before this summer, the Personal Injury Council has created the National Personal Injury Quality Mark. This non-mandatory quality mark is now used by almost all self-respecting personal injury specialists. And guarantees their clients a serious representative who knows what he/she is talking about and who is also allowed to litigate in court. Where victims do not have to pay a percentage of the money paid out. And – as it should be – you can go to the disciplinary authority if things still go wrong.

360 protection

To protect not only the victims of personal injury, but also the National Personal Injury Quality Mark itself, the Personal Injury Council turned to Bakker&Verkuijl. We then neatly registered the quality mark in the Benelux. So do you see that on a website or in a brochure from a personal injury company? Then you can be sure that you are choosing a bona fide club to assist you. And you won’t incur any unnecessary additional misery.
